India
Shade-grown under pepper vines and jackfruit. Spicy, nutty, low-acid coffees that make a serious espresso.
Indian Arabica grows under tall shade trees alongside pepper and cardamom, which some say is why it tastes faintly of spice. Estate coffees from Chikmagalur and Coorg are sweet and round, and India also grows some of the best Robusta anywhere, which turns up in Italian-style blends. Monsooned Malabar is the oddity: low acid, huge body, loved by people who want espresso that tastes like espresso.
